Joy Rae Jenks was born January 15, 1921 in
Spring Valley, Fillmore County, Minnesota to
John Leo Jenks and Bertha Adele Smith. Her
parents were known as Leo and Dell and
both were from Wild Rose. Joy attended
Wild Rose High School and graduated in 1939.
The yearbook called her sleepy-eyed. Her
weakness was getting up on time. Her favorite
song was "Ten O'Clock Scholar." She married
Alvin Leroy Grant son of George and Bernice
Hagen Grant. He was born March 27, 1921.
They had seven children. Joy won a prize at
Over 50 in Wild Rose for having
the most children of those present. Alvin died
in 1992. Joy died at her daughter Susan's
house in Palestine, Illinois on November 19,
2005. |
