Walter Jones and Mary Thomas

This picture is likely a wedding picture.  Women 

often did not wear white dresses for wedding 

especially before 1900. White was not practical 

because there were not paved roads or 

sidewalks at that time.  Walter H Jones son 

of John Jones and Ann Pool was born March 31, 

1869 in Waushara County.  He married Mary 

Thomas daughter of Edward Thomas and Agnes 

Patterson on September 1, 1898.  Mary was 

born June 17, 1872 in Waushara County.  They 

had a daughter Florence who was born in 1907, 

a son Leonard born February 1, 1910 and died 

April 1, 1914. The census also indicates they 

had another child who died very young.  Walter 

was a farmer in the Town of Rose.  He died 

January 15, 1920. He is buried in Oakhill 

Cemetery in Wild Rose, Mary died 

February 11, 1938.
