Baptist Church in Wild Rose With a 10 MPH Speed Sign

The Baptist Church in the picture was located 
at 610 Carey Avenue.  Today it is the Grace 
Bible Church. The foundation for the church 
was completed in mid-October 1901 and 
started the frame then.  The church was 
completed in early January 1902.  It was 
dedicated January 5, 1902.  They had a 
debt of $225 which the Plainfield Sun 
reported was easily raised.  The new Pastor, 
Rev. Parsons was ordained on Monday.  
Some of the other early Pastors were Rev. 
Powell, Rev. H E Mansfield, John C 
Wanamaker,and Rev Bernard Kruse. The 
picture shows a speed limit of 10 miles 
per hour. The sign is located in the lower 
right corner by the sidewalk.
