Carol Aleta Roberts Killian






































Carol Aleta Roberts born October 11, 1899 in Wild Rose to Johnny 
D Roberts and Ella Prothroe.  She graduated from Wild Rose High
School with the class of 1917. She married Earl F Killian May 9, 
1933 in Berlin WI. They had a daughter Kathryn. Her husband was
an attorney and later DA. She is listed as a lawyer in the 1940
census as general practice. She died July 16, 1991 and is buried
in Berlin, WI.
 

David Alanson Etheridge


 



































David Alanson Etheridge was born May 18, 1917 to Glenn Etheridge
and Hannah Bowen. He graduated from Wild Rose High School in
1934. He enlisted in service April 7, 1941 in Milwaukee.  He was 5'9"
and weighted 154. He had blue eyes and brown hair and light complexion.
He had a scar below his left elbow. He married Mildred Leder Nov. 19,
1942. He was released from service Oct. 28, 1945. Before service he
worked for Luick Ice Co.  Later he worked for Emmons Stationary in
Wisconsin Rapids.  He had two chidren Alanson and DeDe. He died
Dec. 26, 2001 in Wisconsin Rapids.

Clare Mabel Dopp Potts


 



































Clare Mabel Dopp was born May 29,, 1888 in the Town of Belmont 
of Portage County, WI to Albert Dopp and Ella Towne. She married
Robert L Potts on April 2 1910 in Plainfield. WI. She taught school
in Spiritland west of Almond, WI. They had a child, Albert Potts. 
She had arthritis for over 30 years so she needed a chair. She died
Nov , 1960 and is buried in Greenvale Cemetery in the Town of

Ellsworth Apps


 



















Ellsworth Apps was born Sept. 24, 1917 to Edward W Apps and
Edith Emily Kisenlohr. He enlisted in the Army Decmeber 14,
1942. His draft card listed him as 6' 2" and weighted 175. He had
brown eyes and hair. His complexion was ruddy, He was 
released from srvice an. 6, 1946. He married Mary Trenadive 
from Racine on Aug. 11, 1945.  He died Sept. 15, 1984.

Alice Jane Owens Wachs


 





















Alice Jane Owens was born January 28, 1917 in the Town
of Rose, Waushara County, WI. Her parents were Edwin 
Owens and Marie Jones. She was baptized at the Horeb
Presbyterian Church in Wild Rose February 1, 1919 by
Rev. Roberts. She graduated with the Wild Rose class of 
1934. She married Jules F Wachs Dec. 27, 1941. She
died in Thiensville, WI on May 29, 2007. Jules Wachs
was born Autg. 24, 1918  and died July 18, 2007. They are
buried in Brookfield WI.

Frank Inda WWI Picture


 



















Frank Inda was born Aug.2, 1888 in the Town of 

Springwater, Waushara County WI. His parents 

were Frank Inda Sr and Rose Gregor. He married 

Amelia Maciejewski June 29, 1920.  He seerved

in WWI as a 2nd Lt. He left Feb. 18, 1918 from

Hobokan NJ. He left with Co. D, 119th Machine

Gun Battation. He returned from Brest France on

May 5, 1819.  He was a farmer. He killed 8 foxes

and received $3 per fox from the Waushara 

County Bounty.  In 1924 he ran for sheriiff. He

was Commander of the Daniel Dopp Post 370

in Wild Rose, wi. Frank died Jan. 22, 1970 ad

was buried in Wautoma Cemerty.

Stanley Howard Colligan


 



































Stanley Howard Colligan was born Dec. 23, 1914
in the Town of Springwater in Waushara County,
WI. His parents were ohn Collgan and Erna
Fenrich. He had a brother Arden Colligan and a
sister Doris Colligan Rait. He married Shirley Murty
Jan. 15, 1942. They had two daughters. They lived
in the Town of Springwater. His WWII draft card
says he was 5'10" and 170 pounds, blue eyes,
brown hair ahd had a light brown complexion. 
Stanley died March 30, 2001 in Springwater.

Margaret Woodward Hahn


 



































Margaret Elizabeth Woodward was born
Aug. 18, 1914 in Wild Rose, Waushara
County, WI. Her father was Milton 
Manley Woodward and her mother was
Wilhelmina "Minnie" Elzabeth Apps. She
married Herbert Edward Hahn June 9,
1941 at St Joseph's Catholic church in
Wautoma.  Herbert was the son of Mr
& Mrs John Hahn. He worked for the
State Fish Hatchery.  Margaret worked
the Wisconsin Legislature in a clerical 
position for 11 years. I met her when
I worked in the Capitol for the Assembly.
Margaret died Feb. 4, 1980 in Madison.
She is buried in Wild Rose Union Cemetery.

Ellen Attoe was born in June of 1876.
Her parents were Walter and Annie
Attoe.  Her mother died in 1901 and
she continued to lve with her father.
She was a member of the Baptist
Church in Wild Rose. Her parents
came from England. She died on
Dec. 25, 1932 of cancer. She was
in St. Mary's Hospital in Oshkosh. She
had a Rev. J C Wanamaker, Rev Flynn
and Rev C A Jones doing the funeral.
In 1934 the Baptist church in Wild
Rose put up and iron railing as a
memorial to Ellen.

Dorothy Gitchins, Teacher


 












Dorothy Mae Githens was born May 22, 1904 in 

Madison, Wisconsin. Her parents were Charles 

A Githens and Annie E Sorenson. She was a 

school teacher and taught in Waushara County.

She married Russell K Peterson in St. Ignace,

Michigan May 28, 1932. Newton Walters, who

from Wild Rose lived in St Ignace and was a

witness for the wedding. Russell's parents were

John Peterson and Hannah Kercory. They had a 

daughter Nancy Ann. Dorothy died Aug.3, 1989

in Hubbard, MN.








 

Donald B Stewart















Donald Benjamin Stewart was born June 3, 1921 in Wild

Rose, Waushara County WI. His parents were Benjamin

Harrison Stewart and Pearl Louisa Huffman. He graduated 

from Wild Rose H.S. in 1938. He lived on River St. in

Wild Rose.  His WWII draft card lists him as 6'1", 

weight 224, brown hair, blue eyes, ruddy complexion.

He enlisted in the miltary. He married Essie Lee Frye in Texas

She died in Florida in 1994. They had four children. Donald

was the co-founder of the Dizzy Dean Baseball Program in

1977, Donald died Aug, 24, 2009 in Pensacola, Florida.









 

 

Edith Brigham Merryfield








 







Edith May Brigham was born May 22, 1879 

to Joseph Brigham and Ruby Persons in the

Town of Rose, Waushara County, WI. She

married Frank Vernon Merryfield. She was

a member of the Methodist Church, Royal

Neighbors, the Eastern Star. She had ten

children but four of them died under two.

Those who grew to adults were: Lester, 

Vernon, Howard, Kenneth, Gordon and

Beatrice. Edith died Dec. 17, 1957 and is

buried in the Crystal Lake Cemetery in 

Waupaca County.

David W Clayton was born June 17, 1905

 in the Town of Springwater, Waushara County. He

graduated from Wild Rose in 1923 and had 3 years

of college. He worked for Rodney Murty at th grist

mill and later was a business manager for Ernie

Knoke at the saw mill. He married Gladys Cutler

from Stevens Point June 17, 1935. Gladys had been

teaching in Wautoma. He was Wld Rose Village

President, served on the WR Library Board, the

Wild Rose Historical Society, and the Lions Club.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He

had two daughters: Jean Clayton Kittleson and Ann

Clayton.

Charlotte Moldenhauer


 



































Charlotte Maud Moldenhauer was

born an. 31, 1916  Mount Morris, 

Waushara County, WI Her parents were

Ernest Moldenhauer and Winifed Harriet

Wilson.  Her siblings were Mildred, 

Gordon and Lyle. Her parents owned 

and ran the Wid Rose Hotel. Charlotte

died Jan. 18, 1933.

  

Chauncey C Lane






































Clauncey C Lane was born April 9 1893 in Wild 
Rose. His parents were George Gilbert Lane and 
Susan Lane.  They lived in the Town of 
Springwater inWaushara County. He moved to 
the Shell Lakearea of Washburn Co. before his 
1917-18 draftcard. He was tall, medium body, 
black hair and gray eyes. He served as a Pvt. 
in Battery A in the 49th Arty. and trained a Camp 
Grant in Il.In the 1942 draft card he was six feet 
tall, was165 pounds gray eyes, gray hair and a 
light complexion. He married Mabel (1900-1993). 
Chauncey died March 22, 1986.




 

Carl Witzel Jenks


 



















Carl Witzel Jenks was born Aug. 13, 1914 in Wild

Rose WI. His parents were Chester A Jenks and

Vinnie Stevens. His middle name from his maternal

grandfather's middle name. Carl graduated with

the Wild Rose Class of 1932.  He went to the

University of Wisconsin for two years. He died 

June 19, 1937 His pallbearers were :Boyd Clark,

David Etheridge, Howard Merryfield, Maurice

Anderson, Grant Godson, and Darrell Larson.

He is buried in Oakhill in Wild Rose.


George Lowe in of Wild Rose was born Nov. 8th 1898
