Augustus Samuel Bartlett Rogers was born March 25, 1833 in Deerfield, Merimac County, New Hampshire to Samuel Bartlett and his wife Hannah Dow who died when he was born. He was adopted by Phillip Parker Rogers and his wife Ruth Emery. He was living in the Town of Mt. Morris when the Civil War began. He helped organize Co. I of the 7th Wisconsin Infantry known as the Iron Brigade. He was the Secretary of the Aurora Fire Insurance Company,. He taught school for many years. This was his place in 1876 as part of a flat plat map. He helped with the introduction of D Appleton & Co. school books. He was married twice, first to Lucy Clark who died in 1874 and later to Susan Emigh who died n 1913. He had seven children. Augustus died July 31, 1901 in Mt. Morris |
