Maty Murty was born January 18, 1895 in the
Town of Rose to James "Jeff" Murty and his wife
Maggie Thomas Murty. They moved to the
Town of Mt. Morris where she attended school
at the Brownlow School. She graduated from
Wild Rose High School in 1913. Mate was at
teacher in the following schoolsin Waushara
County almost all of them one room schools:
Campbell, Rice, Hartford, Colebrook, Webb, Chain O' Lakes, Raymond, Prairie View,
Thompson, Grimm, Poy Sippi (grades 5-6)
and the Progressive which is part of the Wild
Rose Historical Museum. She also taught in
Minnesota at Excelsior, Waldorf, Dakota,
St Louis Park and Brainard. Jerry Apps was one of her students at Chain O Lakes.
She died July 15, 1996 in Wild Rose. |
