Mabelle X Jamieson taught biology in the Wild Rose High School before 1919. She was the daughter of Dr George Jamieson and Adelaide Matteson. She was born May 18, 1896 in Lone Rock, Richland County, Wisconsin. She received a bachelor's degree in 1926 from Lawrence University in Appleton. At that time period it was very common for teachers to teach only have going to the Institute for a short time period. The Jamieson family was from Scotland originally but her father was born in Canada. She taught over 30 years in Portage, Wisconsin. She died in Madison on January 25, 1960. She was one of the teachers who wrote a standardized biology test in Wisconsin. When she died she was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church in Portage. She was also a member of the Eastern Star in Lone Rock. |
