Roger Gertenrich

Roger Gertenrich was born in Illinois, son of
Roger and Merle Heurlin Gertenrich.  His parents
ran the Wild Rose Hotel in the 1940"s & 1950's. 
Roger was active at Wild Rose High School.  He
played basketball and baseball all four years. 
He was on the volleyball team as a junior &
senior as well as track as a senior.  He was
class President and on student council as a
freshman and sophomore. He played clarinet
in the band as a freshman.  He was editor of
the annual as a senior.  He played Dr. Pilsy,
President of Ivy Gate College in "Love Is Too
Much Trouble" and Henry Quinn, the youngest
principal in the state in "Ever Since Eve." Roger
graduated from Wild Rose in 1952.  He went to
Ripon College and later to Northwestern in
Dentistry.  He was a 2nd Lt. and served  in
Korea as a military dentist. Roger married Caryl
Harrington December 21, 1959 in Cook County,
Illinois.  Roger was a dentist in Salem, Oregon.
He also was Mayor of Salem for a term.  He now
lives in Portland, Oregon. He has 4 daughters
and three grandchildren.
