William Henry Jenks, wife Alice Jeffers and son Jay Jenks

William Henry Jenks was the son of John Tower
Jenks was born in Rose, Wayne County NY in 1848.
His wife Alice Jeffers was the daughter of William
Jeffers, Jr, and was born in Wayne County. Jay
was born in Waushara County inn 1890 and died
in 1968. Jay worked at the Wild Rose mill.

Lola Jenks was the daughter of Chester Jenks and Vinnie
Stevens.  She was born Aug 5, 1912. She married Floyd
Sorenson and they had a son Arnold.

Hattie Belle Stewart Hughes

Hattie Belle Stewart was the daughter of
Elisha Stewart and Jane Jeffers who built the
house at the Wild Rose Museum.  She married
Will (William) Hughes in 1883.  They had one
daughter. She died in 1899.

Abner & Emma Hughes

Abner & Emma were the parents of Will (William)
Hughes who owned the Wild Rose Hotel in the early
1900's.

Will Hughes

Will Hughes owned the Wild Rose Hotel at the
time of the 1905 Wild Rose Robbery and was
a member of the posse.

This car was made by Milford Etheridge for his
youngest son, Neil for Christmas 1927. Milford was
born in Wild Rose but later moved to Clintonville by
1920. The car is in the Wild Rose Museum.

Julia Stevens

Julia Stevens was the daughter of
Stephen & Elizabeth Payne Woodard.
She was born Oct 20, 1875 and died
April 13, 1933 in Wild Rose. She was
hit and killed when she was walking
home from church. The young men 
in the car where paying attention
to girls in the second story of a 
house and didn't see her.

Dr Arthur Stevens. dentist in Wild Rose WI

Dr Stevens arrived in Wild Rose on
Oct. 7, 1905, the day of the 1905
Wild Rose robbery. His office was
upstairs in the Wild Rose Mercantile
and had outside metal stairs to get
to his office.  He had a foot pump to
operate his drill. Dentistry has 
changed a lot.

Jennie Lind Gilson Dix

Jennie Lind Gilson was born July 27, 1869 in
Berlin, WI. Her parents were Herman Gilson
nd Caroline Ordway.  She married John D Dix
in 1888 in VT. She died March 28, 1951 in
Ludlow, Windsor,Vt.

J H Jeffers builder of Wild Rose School


Emeline Hanson



Emeline, daughter of Jens & Helena Peterson  married
Martin G Hansen, son of Gunder & Gunild Hansen on
September 27, 1892 at the Mt Morris Holden Lutheran
Church. Martin was a school teacher but Martin died
young on March 20, 1900.  They had two children
Gerald Jay born August 30, 1893 and Grace H. born
July 5, 1895.  In 1905 to help support her family
Emeline took in Margaret Victory, a teacher as a
boarder.  Grace later taught at the Progressive school.

William drowned in Hills Lake in the Town of Mt Morris, Waushara County, WI.
