Inside Smart's store in 1897

In 1897, Charles A Smart enlarged his store
located at 485 Main Street.  The carpentry wood
was done by the Radleys.  Mr Smart is the man
on the right and was the First Village President
for Wild Rose.  On the right side of the picture
you can see stove that heated the building.
he area of the picture that is difficult to see is a
doorway into the second half of the building.
There is a diamond shaped package is is labeled
washing powder.  The store sold general
merchandise and was one of the largest in the
county.  You could buy furniture and clothing and
Smart went to Chicago on buying trips.
