Phoebe Jane Jeffers was born April 9, 1853 in the Town of Springwater, daughter of James W Jeffers and his wife Betsy Dunham. Her siblings were James W Jeffers Jr., Milan Jeffers, Martha Jeffers Darling, Mary Elizabeth Jeffers Swett, Nancy Emmeline Jeffers Hart, Sidney Eugene Jeffers, Georgiana Jeffers Harder, Frank Watson Jeffers and Edwin Fremont Jeffers. Phoebe was a companion and helper to Annie Etheridge Jones, wife of Laforest Atwood Jones. Phoebe lived in Portage with Annnie & LaForest but later eturned to Wild Rose. LaForest was a traveling salesman so Annie had a companion. Phoebe died in Wild Rose August 5, 1917 and is buried in Mt Pleasant. Her tombstone says "Oh! So Good". |
