Arlene Holt was born June 17, 1912 to Henry Holt (July 13, 1871-June 3 1941) and Alma Anderson (Nov 21, 1882-Aug 4, 1972). Most of her life she lived at 620 Division St in Wild Rose. In 1930 the family lived in Plainfield where her dad was a clerk in the lumberyard. She went to Eau Claire for two years in 1931 & 32. She taught 44 years in the Wild Rose schools. In the fall of 1933 it was 3rd and 4th grades by 1937 she was teaching 5th & 6th. Later she taught 7th & 8th. She continued her high education at Stevens Point in summer schools. By 1946 she was the English teacher and librarian in high school. Besides school, she was active in the Woman's Club was on the Patterson Memorial Library Board. Arlene, her sister Lillian and brother Olney established a major scholarship fund that gives out many scholarships each year in Wild Rose and Wautoma. The family is all buried in Mt Morris Holden Lutheran Cemetery. |
