Phebe Jeffers ad Blache Ethridge Murty

This picture was taken about 1972 at 825 Maple
Ave in 1970. This was the house of Rodney and
Blanche Etheridge Murty (Aug. 18, 1889- Jan. 5,
1980). Phebe May Jeffers was born Feb. 25 , 
1880 in Lyons, Iowa whose parents were James
Gilbert Jeffers and Sarah Symons.  Phebe was 
a Quaker,  She lived in Anderson, Indiana where 
she worked as a matron for the Christian 
Women's Welfare Union House,  Later she 
moved to the Bronx in NY where she died 
Aug. 13, 1972. Phebe never married, When she 
visited the Murty's she took a nap on a fainting 
couch that was stuffed with horse hair and she 
thought it was wonderful, The couch was later 
recovered without the horse hair.  Phebe's
grandfather was James Foote Jeffers who was a
brother of William Jeffers, John Jeffers and 
Nancy Jeffers Pease Pixley,
