Implement Building on Maple Ave, Wild Rose

This building was located on Maple Avenue near
the corner with Main Street.  The shop was on
the south side of the street.  This building was
originally a barn of Cornelius Etheridge who sold
it to Charles A Smart.  Smart moved the
building to Maple Avenue near his store which
was where the present motel is located.
Thomas H. Davies operated for Mr. Smart for
a while but then he owned it.  In 1908 John
Protheroe bought it but sold it in 1909 when
he was elected Waushara County Sheriff.  The
new owners were E J Hughes and Walter J
Walters.  Mrs. E J Hughes sold it to Mr. Walters
after her husband died.  Walter Walters
continued to operate it until his death on
March 20, 1918.  In 1920 Harry Hoaglin and
Mr. Rasmussen of Almond bought the store.
In 1921, Thomas H Davies bought  Hoaglin's
share.  Rasmussen and Davis operated it until
the business failed in 1922.  Walter Walters
was the father of Margret and Lois Walters.
Walter drowned along with a span of horses
in a pond between the J M Jones farm and what
is now called the Ravine Cemetery. The water
was ten feet deep when it flooded.
