Mr & Mrs William X Evans
William X Evans was born in the Town of
Springwater October 10, 1856. He was the son
of James and Lydia Evans who settled there
in 1855 in Section 21. He later owned land in
section 18 of Springwater. William was a
member of the Prohibition Party. He was the
Town assessor for atime in the 1890's.
William was also a teacher for the singing
class at the Caersalem Church.
William married Everina Evans daughter of
Evan Evans and Ann Oliver. Everina was born
July 8, 1861 in Wisconsin. They had 5 children:
Lydia who married James Roberts, Nora May
who married Leonard Meier, Heber who died at
about a year in 1887, Roger and Evan Alvin.
William went to Phillips in 1888 to do cooking
at a lumber camp. He was a farmer most of the
time but had a restaurant in Wild Rose for awhile
when he was unable to farm. He died May 28,
1901 in Wild Rose. Everina moved to Phillips,
Wisconsin and died there February 20, 1948.
