Arnol Roberts




















Arnol Victor Roberts was born Dec. 28, 1897 in Wild

Rose to John David Roberts and wife Ella Protheroe.

He graduated from Wild Rose in 1915. He graduated

from the University of Wisconsin Madison. He was in

Thera Chi, Men's Glee Club, Athenae, Square Club,

Harefoot Follies. His thesis was "The Homestead Law

in Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin." He served in

WWI as a Sgt !/c md. in France. When he came

back her was an organizer of the American Legion in

Wild Rose. They named the Chapter after Daniel 

Dopp who was killed in the war. He went to Beaver

Dam to work in a departmen store in the 1930's. He

came back to Wild Rose to run the Wild Rose Mercan-

tile. His store aways wrapped your purcchases in

brown paper and tied it with string. Even my base-

ball cards were wrapped. Arnol donated land to the

village west of the millpond which was named after

him as Roberts Park.  The WWII draft reorted he was

Five feet seven and a half inches. He was 155

pounds. He had blue eyes, brown hair with light

complexion. His hair turned white sa he got older.

He had an interest in history and donated obects to

the Wisconsin Historica Society and the Wild Rose

Historical Museum.  He married Dorothy Patrick

une 16, 1928 in Chicago. He died Oct. 27, 1994 in

Wild Rose. He is buried in Oakhill.
