Christmas card by Joan Arend Kickbush

Joan Arend was born March 23, 1926 in Milwaukee
to John (Jack) Arend and Dorothy H Patzwald.  Joan
was a teacher and I met her,  she was going to
summer school in Stevens Point, WI. Joan and her
husband, Roland moved to Anchorage, Alaska in
1953 and he taught there to 1978. Joan was a
talented artist who worked in pastels, ink, charcoal,
and watercolors.  She was especially interested in
native Alaska children (Inuplat-Yupik). She was a
delightful lady. She died June 16 2006. I also
knew her brother Jay and his wife Amy.
