Anna Smart as born March 27, 1883 in Portage
County Wisconsin. Her parents were John Milton
Smart and Martha Smith. Her mother died when
she was two days old. She had two older brother
who stayed with their father. She went to live
with William Knights and his wife Ella Smart. Ella
was her aunt. Her father remarried and had 2
more children. They lived Evansville, WI. but
they were back in Wild Rose by 1905. Anna
married Edward Hoaglin. He owned the Wild
Rose Mill and was responsible for putting
street lights in Wild Rose in 1908.
