Edith Clayton Pfingsten


 




















Edith Clayton was born Dec. 1898 in Wild Rose to John M 

Clayton and Catherine. She was baptized in The Horeb

Presbyterian Church in Wild Rose on April 1, 1899. Her brothers

were Heber, David and John. She graduated from Wild Rose

High School in 1916. She went 3 years of College in Oshkosh

as did he husband.  He husband was Alfred Pfingsten was born

in Manitowoc County in 1895. Catherine was their first child (1925-

1929). They had a son Alfred C. in 1929. Alfred worked for

Wsconsin Public Service.  The father died in 1986. Edith died

Nov. 13, 1969 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc.

Yarn winder in the weaving room at the Wild Rose Historical Museum




















The winder was hand made by Josiah Etheridge who

came to Wild Rose from Woodmancote in England. The

winder allowed you to know if you had enough yarn for

both sleeves for a  sweater. That was important you wanted

to have the entire sweater inin he same dye lot. 

 

Emily S Knights Russell



































Emily S Knights was born in July of 1845. She was the
daughter of William J Knights Sr. and his wife Caroline.
Emily was the oldest and a sister of Willim J Knights Jr. who
was the co-founder of the Gideons. William Knights Jr, lived
the majority of his live in Wild Rose. Emily died May 29,
1914 in Russia, Herkimer County, NY.
