Johann Georg Speiser was a master carpenter who
was born in Brettheim, Wuettenberg, Germany. He
came to the US in 1840. He changed his name to
John Spicer. He lived in NY State andmarried his
wife Lurinda Jeffers. They had two children:
William Tobias who died in Jefferson County and
Emma who married Alanson Etheridge in Waushara
County. He was the first person buried in the
Standalone Cemetery (now Mt. Pleasant).
