James Knacksteadt

James Knackstedt was born February 13, 1934 in Chicago,
 Illinois to Robert & Violet (Busch) Knackstedt.  He was the
fourth of five children.  The family moved to Wild Rose
where his parents had the Knackstedt 
Restaurant  in a
building that was torn down.  It was located right next to
the Wild Rose Hotel. The parents with children Jean, James
& George lived in an 
apartment over the restaurant..  He
was active in basketball, baseball & track.  His junior year
his was on student council and  Homecoming King and Ann
 Brownlow was Queen.  Homecoming was January 26, 1952
because Wild Rose didn't have a football team at that time.
He was able to get an additional time out in basketball by
 "getting the air knocked out of him" from time to time. 
His nickname was Beach. He married Valorie Gorges,
daughter of Mr & Mrs Henry Gorges of New London
January 8, 1955 in Wild Rose. They had three children,

Hazel Ann Jones Somers

Hazel Ann Jones was born June 13, 1894 in Spring-
water, Waushara County, WI. She was baptised
June 27, 1894 at the Presbyterian Church. Her
parents were William Jones 1864-1937) and his
wife Jennie Lloyd Davies (1867-1953). She had 2
years of college.  She married Edward Archibald
Somers (1895-1974). They had a daughter Betty
Jane Somers (1924-2010). Betty Jane married
Trygve Stea. Hazel died Dec. 20, 1961 and was
buriedin Caersalem Cemetery in the Town of
Springwater in Waushara  County

Gwendolen Favell Heilman

Gwendolen Favel was born June 22, 1908 in
Wild Rose, Waushara County, WI. Her praents
were Floyd C Favell and Emma Lowe. She
graduated from Wild Rose High School. She
went to Lawfrence University in Appleton. She
was a music major. She was active in Sigma
Alpha Iota which was an honorary music
society. While at Lawrence she sang the song
"Japanese Love Song" in a program and she
was the Secretary of Sigma Alpha Iota. Her
first teaching job was in Iola in 1930. She moved
to Richland Center as a music teacher. She
married Ralph Salem Heitman Jr.  from Sharon,
Pennsylvania on June 14, 1941. She died
May 8, 1998 in Sharon. Ralph was born July 9,
1910. His parents were Ralph S Heitman, Sr.
and Laura Kirk. 

Floyd C.Favell

Floyd Clarence Favell was born Nov. 27, 1881 in Royalton,
Waupaca County, WI His parents were William H. Favell
and Sarah Rowen. He was living in Pittsville, Wood, WI.
in 1900. In 1903 he is lsited as a barber in Grand
Rapids (now Wis. Rapids). He was a barber in Phillips,
Price County in 1905. He married Emma Lowe Dec. 17,
1906 in Ripon. He lived on Wisconsin Ave. in Wild Rose.
The house was on the east side the second house from the
corner of Wisconsin and Front St.  Rob and Melba Jean
Williams owned the house until she died in 2017. Floyd
had a daughter Gwendolyn.

Oscar J Holt

Oscar Holt had the general store at the northeat
corner of Main St. and Maple Ave. At one time
he had his brother-in-law, Oscar Jones as a partner
in the store. It is possible the other man is
Oscar Jones. Holt is on the left. He had the house
on Maple Ave  at the corner of High St.

Boyd Merryfield

This picture may have been taken as late 
as October of 1946.  Boyd Merryfield is 
the son of Lestor and Lucille Evans.  He 
was a member of the 1942 Wild Rose 
Basketball team that won the conference 
championship as well as on the all 
conference team.  He played baseball for 
Wild Rose and later Wautoma 
city baseball teams.  He served in the 
Navy in World War II.  While he was on a 
20 day leave in October of 1946 he went 
pheasant hunting with his father, Boyd
 Ruland and; his son Billy, and Donald and 
Roger Colligan.  They went to Mitchell, 
South Dakota.  They came back with 
129 pheasants.  He married Marian
Bernadine Younglove.  She died in 1987.  
More recently he has volunteered at the 
Veterans Home at King. Lived 
in Oshkosh from 1963 to 1984 when he
returned to Wautoma. They had four children. 

He diedNovemeber 30, 2018 in Wautoma.

A S Rogers in Mt Morris

Augustus S Barlett Rodgers was born in New
Hampshire March 25, 1833,  He served in the
Civil War first in Co.K in the Wis.38th. Later he was
a 1st Lieut. in Co I of the 27th Wis Inf. His first wife
was Lucy Maria with he had children: Ella, James P.,
and Frank. They were married in 1854.  His second
wife was Susan Emigh who he married June 22, 1878.
Their children were Charles R., Susan R., Lulu and
Inez. Augustus S or A.S. died Jul. 31, 101 and is
buried in Marion Cemetery in Waushara County.
The picture of his residence is from a flat plat map
from 1876.

Joyce and Kermit Clark

Joyce and Kermit Clark were children
of Fred Patterson Clark and Margaret
Lowe. Joyce was born in 1910 in Wild
Rose. John Kermit Clark was born
Jan. 8, 1908 in Wild Rose. Kermit
married Agatha Gossens Dec, 27,
1930 in Kaukauna. They had a son
Robert.  Kermit taught at UW-
Oshkosh. He died Aug.30, 1996 in
Wild Rose. Joyce married Colonel John
D. McConahay Dec. 23, 1941  in Fort
Collins, CO. She wasa teacher and had
2 daughters. She died March 16,1964
in Colorado. She is buried in Oakhill in
Wild Rose. The Clarks lived on Oakwood
in Wild Rose.

Eldred Etheridge as a baby. His parents were
Milford Etheridge and Alice Jenks. he was born
March 9, 1913 in Wild Rose but later moved
to Clintonville where his father went to work
at Four Wheel Drive.
