Clyde Churchill



















Clyde Allen Churchill was born in Helvetia, Waupaca 
County on Feb. 6, 1883 to Cyrus Churchill (1849-
1888) and Sarah Allen (1850-1924) in the Town of 
Helvetia in Waupaca County. Cyrus & Sarah also 
had a daughter, Katherine born in 1871.  Cyrus 
and his first wife Emma Woolsey . had a son Louis 
born in 1869 died in 1939. After Cyrus died Sarah 
married John Henry Rees (1857-1929). Clyde's 
second half brother, Fred Rees was born in 1898.  
Clyde's WWI draft card filed in St. Paul, MN described 
him as medium height and weight, blue eyes and 
light hair. He was working for Swift Co. as a laborer. 
He was living in Missouri when he got his Social 
Security card. The Census usually listed Clyde as 
a farmer.  His WWII draft card reported was living 
in Plainfield, had no telephone and Herbert Randolph 
of Plainfield would always know his address. Clyde's 
description was 5 feet 10 inches, 160 pounds, blue 
eyes, grey hair, and ruddy complexion. He also had 
a scar on the back of his right hand. Clyde died 
August 15, 1969 in Redgranite.  He was buried in 
the Plainfield Cemetery.
