Francis McGovern for Governor in 1910 In Wild Rose WI

With all the political debates going on these
days, you might enjoy this picture of Wild
Rose from 1910 when Francis E. McGovern
(Republican) who was the District Attorney
in Milwaukee County beat Adolph Schmitz
in the race for Governor.  Governor McGovern
was nationally known because he purposed
and passed the first workers compensation
insurance in the county in 1911.   On the
right side of the street going north are Theo.
Keppler's Harness shop, the Wild Rose State
Bank, Bob K Jones' Hardware Store.  The
tallest building on the right was a grocery store.
