Samuel Jeffers

Samuel Jeffers will be one of the people we honor with the Cemetery Walk on June 6th in Wild Rose Wisconsin. Sam was one of the earlier settlers in the Wild Rose area. He came in the spring of 1850 from Rose, Wayne County, New York. They took the Erie Canal and Great Lakes and then over land in a covered wagon pulled by oxen. He was the son of Robert Jeffers and his wife Christiana Foote. He was born October 5, 1797 In New York state.

I believe Samuel Jeffers is my Great, Great Grandfather.

My grandmother was Gertrude Jeffers, daughter of John Henry Jeffers, son of Samuel. She married Russel Thompson. I have some wonderful pictures of her father and aunts, who she said were very musical. Cindy Lee Brewer

I found a letter in my Grandmother's Bible that mentioned an ancestor traveling from Rose, New York to the Wisconsin area and settling in a town called Wild Rose. From there, he traveled to California where he hit a gold strike, but lost all of his money when the bank abruptly shut down. If this story sounds vaguely familiar, please let me know!

You should share copies of the pictures to Pam Anderson! I would love to see them! I come from the Jeffers' line too.
